The Theatre Club of S. M. Shetty Degree College is widely known as ‘Kalaamanch’. Every year the club orients students with creative skills in the field of theatre to take part in intercollegiate, University, State and National level competitions to enhance their abilities and make way for their career in it.

This year the members of Kalaamanch started with Youth Festival of University of Mumbai. At zonal level Marathi Skit ‘Mazi Shala’ won 1st prize and Hindi skit ‘Hum Aadiwasi’ won consolation prize. Marathi skit stood third in the final round of Theatre Arts of the Youth Festival. Ms. Prajakta Pawar won 1st Prize in Monologue competition at zonal level. Along with this the students won 1st prize in CONFLUX- Annual festival of IBS and 2nd prize in JALLOSH – annual festival of Walia College. Members of theatre club also took part in ‘THESPO’ – a national competition for drama with a performance ‘Jaweda’.
