Vachan Sankalp Maharashtracha

Vachan Sankalp Maharashtracha is an initiative by the Department of Higher and Technical Education Government of Maharashtra with an aim to encourage reading & inculcate good reading habits among students of all colleges. As part of this campaign the colleges are required to organize various programmes like book exhibition, group reading, author talk etc.

The Learning Resource Center of Bunts Sangha’s S.M. Shetty College of Science, Commerce & Management Studies, Powai resonated with the concept and organized many activities.

• NSS students of the college participated in the Granth Dindi organized at the University of Mumbai on 4th January, 2025.
• Group Reading Activity was conducted on 7th January, 2025. Students from various programmes participated in the activity. Books from various genres like biography, fiction, research etc. were issued to them for the reading activity.
• Book Review Competition was organized on 9th January, 2025 in coordination with the Dept. of Management Studies of the college. Students were required to read the book and provide a summary of the same in written or oral format.
• Book Exhibition was organized on 11th January, 2025. Vakratund Book House from CBD Belapur was invited to put the book exhibition. Aroung 200 books from various genres were exhibited. Teachers & students visited the book exhibition and recommended books for the library. They also bought books for their self-use.
• Author Talk was organized on 13th January, 2025. Ms. Minnie Vaid, (Journalist, Author, Film Maker) was the resource person for the session. Students from various disciplines attended the session. It was an interactive session with the author providing tips for publishing a book.
• The Learning Resource Center of the college promotes a clean environment for a focused reading experience. The library is cleaned twice a day by the house keeping staff which is very well supervised
