S.M. Shetty College of Science, Commerce and Management Studies has made provisions for Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and has constituted a team for the process.

Orientation program for the first-year students was held on 10th July, 2017 in the college auditorium. Principal Dr. Sridhar Shetty lightened the lamp and oriented the students about our college and the glory we have achieved over the years. In his speech, he blessed the students for a happy stay in the college for the three years of under graduation.

Coordinators of each programme Mrs. Sahana Ravi Prasad (B.COM), Mr. Sandesh Shetty (BBI& BAF), Mrs. Nidhi Chandorkar (BMS), Mrs. Kalpana Rai Menon(BMM), Mr. Tushar Sambare (B.Sc (IT)) Have oriented the students with curriculum, examination pattern of University of Mumbai and general rules and regulation of the college.

The Counselor of the College Ms. Sushreeta Sule gave the students an outlook of counseling Centre of the college on 7th floor. Our Librarian Mrs. Smita Ravindranath gave a bird’s eye view about the library and its e-reach today. Mrs. Rohini Shetty, our Physical Director spoke on sports facilities we provide to the students and encouraged them to participate in ongoing sports events of the college.

Inauguration Of Restructured And Renovated Administrative Office Facilities

Administrative office of the college got renovated with improved counters and better facilities. The newly renovated and restructured office was inaugurated on 27th June, 2017.

Principal of the college inaugurated the restructured office. The Vice Principal of the college Dr. Liji Santosh, Vice Principal of the Junior college Ms. Prathibha Gadgalli, Registrar of the college Mr. Dilip Khemani, other administrative and support staff along with teaching staff were present on the occasion.

Felicitation Of Our Principal Dr. Sridhara Shetty At Bunts Sangha, Mumbai

Bunts Sangha, Mumbai has organized a Mega Education and Social welfare program on 29th June,2017. Our Principal Dr. Sridhara Shetty was felicitated for the overall achievement of the college on 29th June, 2017 by our honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Devendra Fadnavis. This honor has brought laurels to the college.

College was declared as the winner of Educational Excellence Award in the month of March,2017.

The award distribution ceremony of Indus Foundation Hyderabad-New Jersey was held on 17th July,2017 at Hotel Lalit, Santacruz. College bagged the Educational Excellence Award at the hands of former Chief Secretary of Government of India. Principal Dr. Sridhara Shetty along with Chairman, Powai Education Committee Shri Jayaram N. Shetty received the honors on this occasion.

Professor S. Parasuraman Director of Tata Institute of Social Science and Dr. Sridhara Shetty, Principal SM Shetty Degree College, signed the MOU to conduct the National University Students Skill Development (NUSSD) program in SM Shetty College. Also present on the occasion were, the Vice Principal of Degree College Dr. Liji Santosh and NUSSD Program Coordinator at SM Shetty College, Ms. Kalpana Rai Menon

National University Students’ Skill Development (NUSSD) Programme, is a flagship program on skill development undertaken by Tata Institute of Social Sciences(TISS) in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to enable graduating youths from underprivileged background to acquire employment oriented skills while pursuing their degree program.

This year’s theme “Grooming youth for the Future India” was released on 10th June 2017.

Dr. Sridhar Shetty Principal of the college addressed the gathering on this occasion. He spoke in length on the theme and how we mould n carve our students for future India. He also appreciated the initiative taken by IQAC on skill development workshops introduced for the academic year.

Yoga and meditation are believed to be medicines with healing touch for lifestyle diseases of this century. In order to reduce stress and managing lifestyles, IQAC has organized a meditation session for staff and students on 15th July,2017. IQAC invited YPV Sadhana team Mr. Vineet Sachidanandan, Ms. Sony Pasi and Mrs. Laxmi for conducting sessions.

Dr. Sridhar Shetty inaugurated the session by lighting the lamp. Mr. Vineet S has conducted a session for non-teaching staff and Ms. Laxmi has conducted the session for teachers and students. The lessons were well received by the faculty and students. They also introduced their mobile application of the yoga programme YPV Sadhana to the audience.
